It's been a busy offseason for Brian Wilson.
After winning the World Series with the San Francisco Giants in November, the wild and wooly closer has lounged with Leno, partied with beautiful women, been challenged to a boxing match by an A's fan and lived out all of his nautical fantasies on late-night TV.
Now he's capping it all off with his long-anticipated return to Twitter.
Wilson posted two messages to the verified @BrianWilson38 account on Wednesday:
The Beards back on twitter.....Lets Rage!!!!!!!!
SF currently has great weather, phenomenal vibe, raging fans and....a trophy. NAILED IT!
Not exactly a pair of the greatest 140-character dispatches, but remember that Wilson on Twitter during its early days and that his interesting mini-missives went unfiltered by publicist or team. He eventually killed his account in April 2009 after a controversy borne from a late-night tweet from a bar — and a blown save the following afternoon.
In Wilson's case, a two-year exile seems appropriate. The baseball world is a lot more familiar with both Wilson and Twitter than they were two years ago and he shouldn't punish himself further by denying a good way to further market his own special brand of crazy.
Tweet away, good sir.
