Baseball's de facto Christmas break is over, which means it's time for the final loose ends of the offseason to be tied up before players and coaches head to spring training in Arizona and Florida. One of the bigger free agents still on the market is third baseman
Adrian Beltre, and three AL West clubs -- the A's,
Angels and
Rangers -- have been linked strongly to him over the course of the winter.
Lately, most of the buzz has surrounded Texas, with reports out of Beltre's native Dominican Republic and a subsequent one
by ESPNDeportes.com Sunday indicating he was close to an agreement with the Rangers, possibly for six years and in excess of $90 million.
A major league source told FanHouse's Ed Price that there was "no deal" between the two sides on Sunday night, but that does not mean they haven't had discussions.
