Ichiro Suzuki: 'I Wonder Why We Still Lose This Many Games'

One of the worst parts of watching a team suffer a run of several seasons out of the money is how it keeps great players from burnishing their reputations with playoff appearances.

Seattle's current postseason drought is at nine years and counting, which means that Ichiro Suzuki has spent a lot of time playing in games that don't matter for anything outside of his run at 3,000 career hits. Based on a recent interview with Kyodo News, Ichiro looked back at his 10 years in the majors and sounded more than a little bemused about the state of affairs in Seattle after a second 101-loss season in the last three years.

"After all this time I wonder why we still lose this many games. The whole team had high hopes for the 2010 season because we thought we made good additions to the roster. And we ended up like this. From now on, maybe we shouldn't even voice our goals."
