Stan KastenNationals president Stan Kasten has resigned.

He will remain with the team through the end of the 2010 season, but told reporters at Nationals Park that the decision was largely a personal one and that his plan all along had been to spend five years at his post and then move on.

"This is just about me," Kasten said. "This has nothing to do with anybody else."

The 58-year-old was careful to say that he was not retiring.

"I don't feel like retiring," he said. "I'm going to do something. I think it will be a while before I do."

If he does return to baseball in some fashion with another team, he will have to sell his minority ownership share in the Nationals.
