Cliff Lee is my new favorite baseball player.
It's not just because he signed with the Phillies instead of the Rangers or, ulp, Yankees, which spared us the pain of watching baseball's big boys gobble up another player and the accompany whining about it from everyone else.
The reason I love Cliff Lee is because he threw away a reported $28 million for the sake of ... what? Happiness? Winning? Cheesesteaks?
We'll have to wait to hear from Lee to get his reasons, but I don't care. I'm just thrilled that a player made a decision in which money was clearly not the driving force.
