Ryne Sandberg has left the organization he made his name with in the bigs, returning to the organization where it all began. After failing to get his admitted dream job as Cubs manager, Sandberg is taking over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Phillies.

A 1978 draft pick of the Phillies, Sandberg made his major league debut as a shortstop in the City of Brotherly Love before being traded to the Cubs just prior to the 1982 season.

After spending 15 seasons with the Cubs, where he was a 10-time All-Star and the 1984 NL MVP, the Hall of Famer began working in the Cubs organization in 2007. He managed the team's Single-A (2007 and 2008) and Double-A (2009) affiliates before being named the Pacific Coast League manager of the year in his first season running the Triple-A Iowa Cubs in 2010.
