Javier Vazquez was a lot more successful pitching in the NL East in 2009 than he was pitching in the AL East in 2010 so it isn't surprising to learn that he'd like to return to that division in 2011.The Braves aren't the team that's on his mind, however. It's the Marlins, according to a report by Juan Rodriguez in the Sun-Sentinel. Vazquez knows several members of the team's personnel department from when all of them worked for the Expos and he knows manager Edwin Rodriguez from Puerto Rico. General manager Larry Beinfest didn't address Vazquez directly, but did admit the team is in the market for a starting pitcher.
"If something makes sense given the allocation, then yeah, a starting pitcher, I don't think you can go wrong," he said. "... It's a reasonable to say that a starting pitcher would be a good add to this team."
