The Mets have hired Paul DePodesta to work in their front office, FanHouse's Tom Krasovic has confirmed.

DePodesta, a principle figure in Michael Lewis' renowned baseball book "Moneyball" and the general manager of the Dodgers from 2004-05, had been working since '06 in the Padres' front office.

It is believed he'll assume the role of vice president of player development and amateur scouting under new Mets GM Sandy Alderson.

SNY was first to report the news of the hiring.
