The Florida Marlins took another step toward overhauling their bullpen Wednesday, agreeing to a two-year contract with left-handed specialist Randy Choate. The deal will pay him $2.5 million, according to FOXSports.com.Choate was a key member of the AL East champion Rays' bullpen in 2010, appearing in 85 games and posting a 4.23 ERA. He was particularly effective against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .202 average.
Florida has made a point of upgrading its relief corps this winter, trading two position players for bullpen depth.
