New Yankees catcher Russell Martin has an explanation for the disappointing end to his tenure with the Dodgers, just don't expect it to shed much light on exactly what caused his production to dip so precipitously."There's some things that you keep for yourself," Martin told the National Post. "Those distractions, they're personal -- personal issues in my life that not everybody needs to know about."
Martin, 27, continued: "I had some distractions that maybe led me not to have that same drive that I've had in the past. Really, that's all it is, honestly. I didn't train quite as -- I trained hard, but before, nobody trained as hard as I did."
Whatever those personal issues were, going from Los Angeles to the fishbowl in the Bronx probably isn't going to do much to alleviate the pressure on Martin to perform at a high level.
