The Giants saw hundreds of thousands -- if not more -- fans pack the streets for their championship parade.
"Look at all these nuts!" eccentric closer Brian Wilson was overheard yelling, and a nutty environment wouldn't be surprising based on how the city has gained a reputation for its eccentric partying during the Giants' postseason run.
Of course, Wilson -- San Francisco's odd closer -- added a healthy amount of entertainment to the proceedings. At one point in the parade, Wilson left the cable car carrying players and ran down the street in silver shoes. When asked by a reporter if he was planning on losing his famous beard, Wilson replied, "Are you kidding me? Fear the beard for life!"
Many fans, as they've done all postseason long, mimicked Wilson's trademark beard.
Aubrey Huff provided another one of the parade's notable moments, unveiling the lucky red thong that became part of the team's championship lore.
The fans were understandably enthused for the team's first championship since 1954, some showing up before dawn, skipping work and school for the occasion.
"This is Christmas, New Year's and your first-born all rolled into one," said Steve Williams, an usher at AT&T Park. "I'm on cloud nine."
