Though the Toronto Blue Jays have not officially named John Farrell their new manager, the Red Sox, who have employed him as their pitching coach since 2007, seem resigned to losing him."The Jays are getting a great baseball man and a great person," Red Sox owner John Henry wrote in an e-mail to the Boston Globe. "We were able to keep John as a part of our organization longer than a couple of other teams would have wanted, but it really is time for John to step up to the next level."
Farrell has been a hot managerial prospect for the last few seasons, rebuffing teams like the Pirates to stay on in Boston. But now, it seems he has found the opportunity he was waiting for in the form of the Blue Jays.
