Assuming all goes well with his physical on Monday, the Rockies are expected to hold a press conference Tuesday to formally announce Carlos Gonzalez's $80.5 million contract extension. Gonzalez arrived in Denver from Venezuela on Sunday to take care of the last remaining hurdles between him and the seven-year deal he agreed to last week. Gonzalez's camp released a statement on Monday sharing the outfielder's thoughts on the eve of the big day.
"I feel satisfied with the offer because it's not only the money that counts, but also the possibility of doing what I love, which is playing baseball," Gonzalez was quoted as saying in the statement. "On top of that, I will play with a team that has always made me feel at home, that from the beginning trusted in my talent and has allowed me to improve day after day on the field."
