The Washington Nationals and reliever Sean Burnett have agreed to a two-year deal with a mutual option for a third year, the team announced Thursday.Burnett, according to a report by the Washington Post, which first broke news of the deal, is guaranteed $3.95 million in the agreement -- $1.4 million in 2011, $2.3 million in 2012 and a $250,000 buyout if the team declines his 2013 option. If either Burnett or the Nationals picks up the option, he'll receive $3.5 million in 2013. The $250,000 buyout is waived if Burnett declines the option.
The deal buys out the remainder of Burnett's arbitration-eligible years as well as his first year of free agency if either he or the team exercises the 2013 option.
