Tony Malinosky, Oldest Living Ex-Player, Reportedly Dies at 101

Tony MalinoskyTony Malinosky, a former Brooklyn Dodgers infielder who was the oldest living former major league player, died Tuesday at 101, according to MLB.com.

Malinosky saw action in 35 Dodgers games in 1937, when he was 27 years old. He hit .228, collecting a pair of doubles and driving in three runs while playing third base and shortstop.

A classmate of Richard Nixon's at Whittier College, Malinosky went on to serve in the Army during World War II, seeing combat action in the Battle of the Bulge.

On Oct. 5, 2009, the Dodgers helped the Oxnard, Calif., resident celebrate his 100th birthday.
