Ross Ohlendorf already has matched his victory total from 2010.The Pirates right-hander prevailed in the first salary arbitration case of 2011, as a three-person panel ruled he will be paid $2.025 million this season rather than the $1.4 million his employers had sought.
Ohlendorf, who was arbitration-eligible for the first time as a "Super Two" player, made $439,000 last season as he went 1-11 with a 4.07 ERA in 21 starts for Pittsburgh. Though his record was abysmal and his strikeout-to-walk ratio less than 2-to-1 (79 to 44), Ohlendorf posted an ERA+ of 100 -- the definition of average.
That was enough for the panel to rule in his favor after weighing his case against the numbers of comparable players.
The next known hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, between Jered Weaver and the Angels. The pitcher is seeking $8.8 million and his team filed at $7.37 million.
