Alfredo Simon, Orioles Pitcher, Main Suspect in Fatal Shooting

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Alfredo Simon is the primary suspect in a murder that took place in his native Dominican Republic, police said.

Dominican police are searching for Simon. They believe Simon shot and killed 25-year-old Michel Castillo Almonte and wounded his 17-year-old brother during a dispute on New Year's Eve.

The pitcher maintains he was not involved in the shootings, according to Orioles representative Felipe Alou Jr., who said he has spoken with Simon.

Simon appeared in 49 games in a relief role for Baltimore last season. He recorded 17 saves in 21 opportunities, with a 4.93 ERA.
